And they're spending £500,000 just thinking about it.

Isn't it amazing how corporations come up with spending figures?

Recently there was that prank in Norwich's Golden Triangle, when the pranksters painted all the letterboxes, in this area, in gold paint. The council said they had to spend £40,000 to repaint them red!!! yikes

I seriously doubt it cost the pranksters that much, so how on earth do they get a figure like that?!

Because they're idiots and get shafted by contractors. They could simply have hired a bloke with a can of red paint - 2 days work - £500. But they're not accountable - if they run out of cash they just crank the tax up a bit. I have my gun, where's a good wall?

39 for, 61 against now.

Don't know why anyone would support one though. Norwich doesn't really strike me as big enough to warrant it. And there is no benefit to cutting through the centre as the inner ring road is usually quicker.

You're being too practical! It's a way that Councillors can be seen to be doing something, get headlines, screw the motorist AND pretend they're as important as London... just what their egos ordered in fact.

38.48% for, 61.52% against now!

I agree Bernie....no need for it in Norwich.

It's simply too small, IMO. I can't see that they could charge that many roads, as there aren't that many in the centre!

You certainly have a point, though John! Why is it with pollution matters, they always want to charge the motorist?! banghead Is such a large group really that easy to take advantage of rolleyes

Even if cars were non-polluting, they'd still do it. It's about control and money. Extremists also despise personal freedom and nice shiny things that they don't have.
