Well I made my appearance at Bury St Edmunds. After a 2 hour wait, I was given my 30 minute hearing - the longest half an hour of my life!

Thanks to my lawyer, some cover letters, a nice magisrate hehe, and of course all your good luck messages , I've escaped with the following punishment.....

3 months ban
Retake my driving test after the 3 months
£150 fine + £35 costs (which will be paid over 3 months)

All things being equal I'm bloody relieved!!!

Thanks again for all your support!

What, 140 ?

Sorry hehe

Sounds like a fairly reasonable result!

edit; hang on I should clarify...not REASONABLE....just not as bad as it could be!

I would say not a bad result, but realisticaly any ban is very bad and having to retake your test could be a nightmare.

At least you can get on with the rest of your life now; I know how these things can take you over. And it's all so bloody needless banghead

Seems like they've gone for the ban and cut down the fine. However, you're going to need the saving as I have a nasty feeling that at insurance renewal time you'll get clobbered again. Unfair? Yes it is, but unfortunately as a paid-up citizen of this dear country your feelings don't count.

As for taking the test, totally barmy of course and equally needless, but I expect if you set the cruise to 29mph, use the indicators and turn the wheel like a numpty, you'll sail through

Pretty harsh even so Darren...yes

Hope it's not too bad going without the Merc for 3 months. At least its over the crappy wintertime when roads are awful and it's actually rather nice staying inside.

If you need a lift....somewhere in my area, let me know!

That's fairly light...

Back in old NZ, I got 'Dangerous Driving', 6 month ban, ~£100 ish fine, about 10 or 12 years ago for 80km in a 50km zone, ok, with a bit of zoom zoom around a couple of corners, but as it was my local area, I knew every blind spot and driveway, plus I had good old plod shining his light up my ar$e to get my goat going...

never forgot his name either... so one of these cold dark night...
