Unsurprisingly the Monty speedo is slightly out, it was showing between 125-130 along what I assume was the main run way, (the first long straight of the lap before all the twisties) at one point it seemed to be doing the same speed as some of the Elises, I wondered what kind of speed they hit along there

They must have been comming quite close to topping out (147 for an Exige?) as there was room for me to touch 180 with ample time, just not the brass parts, spare for more...

I got an annoying top speed of about 131mph in the MINI. I wish it went faster, there was plenty more room to go quicker.
What did they do on that awful Vroom Vroom program to get that Astra to go faster? I've got the racing stripes, the fancy air filter and exhaust, spoiler and dodgy tyre pressures. What else can I try?? (I think the other options were stripped out, sellotaping the exterior and fuel additive)

Nothing wrong with 131mph magpie! I think its an achievement

The Monty no tax now (plus it would be silly to speed on the public highway!), and with proper 'timing/measuring' gear how am I supposed to know what it got, their top speed when new was suppposed to be 126mph and the speedo got to be out - it does have a slight wobble but was defo 120mph+ people have laughed at the idea that it managed 130mph.

So having no idea what it really could've reached, I'm sure a couple of Elises weren't pulling away a couple of times and thought maybe I could gauge it by what they were doing at the time!

The old Z3 got up to 145 mph on the speedo and certainly out performed the Elises on the straight - not quite so quick round the bends though!!!

Stewarts Liz (the chrome orange one with white stripes) was topping out about 120, Darrens (the black with white stripes) was topping at 130 - difference due to one being a 111s and the other a 111r.
I had my 400 Chimaera to a GPS indicated 145, still a little more to go but twas getting a tad twitchy....
