Vulcan Open Day, Southend

This is the visit that Ian Beech was trying to arrange before his tragic death. I have been in contact with fellow PH and organiser Nick Snow since then regarding this event.
I was told yesterday that the open day is on Saturday August 12th at Southend Airport. Nick has a thread running here : www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?t=285386&f=141&h=0. Having spoken to John (simpo two) it is not now going to be a PHEA event due mainly to some of the organisers requirements and the fact that August is very busy already.
Anyone interested in going should be aware that they will need to be on site and parked up by 9.30am and will not be allowed to leave until the event finishes at 5.00pm. There was also a requirement for public liability insurance, but having spoken with the organisers earlier, this is not required as 3rd party cover is already within your car insurance.
Feel free to add your thoughts on this thread, if there is enough interest within the area we'll try and go as a group. Please add your name to Nick,s thread on Pie & Piston as he is collecting numbers and car types from there only.
I,m sure that Ian would have liked to have supported this event. I know on the original thread there was a lot of interest shown, myself included, so what do you all think?
