Sorry about this not being really car related but need to ask people in the know.

I'm trying to get to Framlingham so i can take my wife out for her birthday. Going to Framlingham Castle then out for a meal .
Only problem is i need a scenic drive there that has nice roads and good scenery. As i have never been down to suffolk without going on the A140 i need your experties please.

Lavenham, Long Melford and Kersey are all very pretty, if not too far west from your route?

Thanks simpo two. NO not to far west as we making a day of it you see so a long route would be great.

Another choice is to come down the A140 to Scole, then divert cross country to Framlingham, via Hoxne & Stradbroke. Nice enough road for a drive through the country.

After the castle, then you may like to head over to Orford (another castle) and eat in the Crown & Castle (not cheap & book! but good for "occasions"

Or you can head North up the A12 to either Aldeburgh / Thorpeness for a walk on the Seaside & a bite to eat,

or carry on North to Southwold for the same. I can recommend the Fish & Chips from the cafe on Southwold Pier (not the one at the arcade, but the one actually ON the pier...)

Thanks chris.
We ended up doing your route but we did not stop for a meal anywhere. Went to orfod castle after framlingham. Also went from orford to leiston to thorpness. Then drove the full length of the coast up to hunstanton. I was loving the roads but the Mrs was looking a bit green at times with me throwing the car around at points. Had a great day and must thak both of you for the routes.
