Fancy an exclusive day out?

FAMILIES DAY
RAF Marham's Families Day is on 27 July 2006 this year.
It is an annual event that raises money for Marham's Charities and Appeals - attendance is restricted to RAF Marham personnel and their families, but it is also open (free of charge) to others who either put on, or contribute to the sideshows.
One of the sideshows (unsurprisingly helped along by MG Mark) is what you might term "nice cars" - last year there was a mix of a couple of dozen cars - a few Ferraris, Triumphs, Cobra replicas and assorted others nice cars, both modern and classic.
There's no need to sit by your car unless you wish to, as you can park, lock up and simply go off and enjoy the day.
Aside from a wide variety of the village/town fete type stalls and sideshows, there is a 4-6 hour flying display of past and current aircraft.
This year will also be the very last occasion that the Canberra (operated by 39 Squadron at RAF Marham) will be flown by the RAF, before it is finally retired after over 50 years service.
It is a weekday, which perhaps involves taking a day off work, but if you like watching good flying displays without queueing for hours to get into/out of the event, and seeing stalls, static and flying displays without peering over the heads of everyone in front, and not walking miles to find a loo or a burger, all in a relaxed atmosphere, it is a brilliant day out!
The usual personal and vehicle details (full name, address, date and place of birth, vehicle type and registration number) will be needed to access RAF Marham and be directed to the right place, which can be passed to either me or MG Mark.
I will be up for this in the Ultima! Sounds like a good, relaxing day out!
It's Thursday 27 July. Any one else interested?

Will there be a good opportunity to get up close to the aircraft?
Indeed there will - don't expect a Fairford sized static park, but as well as the flying display, there were a good couple of dozen + current RAF and NATO aircraft parked to look at with no barriers, aircrew there to ask questions of, etc etc.

I'm an ex RAF Armourer can I still go..........I don't think many military people would be interested in a Landrover though
It's only the Roadshow events* where we need to be a little fussy about vehicles (my rule of thumb is two from fast, expensive or unusual). All other PHEA stuff, eg raids and meetings - it doesn't matter what you bring

Hi all,
Just a gentle reminder please not to leave it till the last minute before contacting Gary or me on this one with the necessary details. The outline details of the event are as per the first post on the topic. The location for the cars on display will be ideal - on mown grass right next to the static aircraft park and within a stone's throw of the viewing area for the flying display. It doesn't get better than that!

I know that taking the day off is probably the issue for many people, but I floated it really on the basis that I can get people from the forum an "inside track" to something a little different from the norm, so whether its half a dozen, a dozen, or more, it is fine and not a problem.

Gary / Mark,
May be able to get to this one, but will not be 100% until a little nearer the day. Whats the latest date that you need details by. Also I assume its an all day event.

Re the date for details, pse see above. Timings of the event are likely to be arrive somehwere between 1000 and 1100 - with the flying display finishing between 1600 and 1700. However, the time you leave is entirely up to you - you don't have to be there all day if you wish to leave early.
