How much was petrol per litre when you had your 1st car ?
Discussion
IIRC £1.85 a gallon. When it got to £2 I used a credit card instead!
However as a boy I remember my folks asking for '4 gallons' (attended pumps in those days) and it was six shillings a gallon (30p). Didn't mean much to me of course but I expect they complained just as we do.
So who got the Shell 'Historic Motoring' coin set then? Our garage had an old boy called Fred who'd let you swap the spares

You can't do that, I don't have pounds, I have $. Therefore for me, it's $1.30/L.
If, however, you are lucky and live in England, you can come here for a holiday with yer poonds, THEN it would seem cheap.
BTW I'm about to put some more pics on the lingo thread..

No I mean Aus$1.30. Problem is you can't convert that to pounds and say it's cheap, as I earn Aus$ not pounds. Would be a bit like me telling the Balinese how cheap it is to live in Bali; that's all well & good if you are converting $ but not really relevant if you only earn Rp...

Yea, know what you mean, but still sounds relatively cheap nevertheless, just know my dad (bless him) should have taken the £10 trip down there in the 50's.....but the downside is I may have ended up castlemain xxxx.
Tks for info.
Have a nice day

1.30 AUD = 0.526562 GBP
So in England we pay nearly double what you do in Oz.
Yes I know, I'm not explaining myself very well though.
That's great for you when you come here with pounds but they don't pay me in pounds.
It also means that when I get lucky and join you in England, I will only have $/2.5 in pounds
