Our first time at this charity event (and my first proper 'track' session), big thanks and well done to Mark for organising such a professional and fun day, with a huge amount raised for charity.

Everyone was friendly and courteous, a great mix of vehicles, was very pleased with how the Mighty Monty performed (not bad for a 20 year old car with 134k miles on the clock!)

Great fun day

(thank you to Zippee for pointing me in the direction of the track day thread in the first place!)

Yes, a very big thank you to everybody at RAF Marham who had obviously worked very hard to make this event such a success.

This was my first track day and I thoroughly enjoyed the experience despite the rain later on and my slight scrape.

Dear all,

Many thanks to those of you that got to the event over the weekend, and for your kind comments (at least so far!) and I'm glad that you had an enjoyable and safe day. We managed to get cleared away in record time, as we handed back asn undamaged airfield for inspection at about 5.30, having cleared all of the cones, and returned all the equipment borrowed. I'll let you all know what the final tally was once we have worked it all out tomorrow. For now, I think a cold beer is beckoning me..... All the best for now,

MG Mark

Thank you Mark, a very good and well organised day out! Shame about the stone chips though! Will have to tape her up properly next year.

Gave her a good wash tonight and they don't look too bad really. A good t-cut and wax should help.

Looking forward to seeing some pictures and videos!

Good stuff!

What Greg said

Apart from i think it will take a bit more than T-cut

Driving standards very good (not that i'm an expert judge) but a couple of the "larger saloons" didn't appear to know what was going on outside their little race

Agreed, got a little bit of a fright on 3 occasions when entering a fast bend only to discover a "large saloon" facing the wrong way and directally in my path! Lucky the cones were just wide enough to squeeze through!

Nice to meet you (again) seasider.

I was a passenger with Jason driving on the very first session of the day (good job to get accustomed to the cones!) then drove myself in the second group a session. Was bit nervous thinking I’d be the slowest there and hold experienced people up, then tried to remember that it was a charity driving experience so shouldn’t matter if I went for a Sunday drive! I, and Jason thought, I’d be in after a lap or two probably in tears hating it! (Which I felt if I was I thought I’d have no place being out there in the first place!) but apart from not being very confident around the bends (didn’t want to risk going wrong and spoiling it/causing accident for everyone else) having never had tutition or having any concept of ‘lines’ I managed to get a bit of tyre squeal, wheel spin and hit speeds in excess of 100mph on a good few places of the lap, everyone seemed to convoy patiently behind me through the bends (I did slow down to let people pass every-time saw someone in my mirror!) and I didn’t feel intimidated, so really enjoyed it and had fun, which apart from raising money I guess was the aim!

Not sure if I would’ve felt more confident in the Subaru (and certainly not in the cossie, would’ve been paranoid about stone chips!) and felt I had a pretty good ‘feel’ of how the car was responding being fwd, and to be honest I was very impressed how ‘together’ the Monty felt, handled and performed. We would’ve loved to have gone in other sessions, but a slight oil leak looked a bit like a torrent after nearly 60 miles of hard driving!

Great to see the other cars and watch them on track too, can't wait to see the photos and videos (I am a little over excited being my first time! lol)

Thanks Mark for all the effort that went into that day.

We had a great time, spent most of it wishing sould go and have a look at those 3 part stripped jets in the middle of the field! )

Hope you can do it again soon.

Regards,

Scott

I think the vids got compressed when uploading, they are much better in the flesh, still quite nice though...

Fantastic sound in those vids Scott. The Mini sounds like it's got a V8 in it!
