Decided I would sell my 4x4 (keeping the Westfield)
Today I drove to Shropshire and bought myself a 1999 Alfa Romeo 156 2.5ltr V6 24v, 63k miles, Red with grey leather momo interior wood dash and Steering wheel,(pics are still in classified section) I know Alfas get some bad press but what a car it cruises on the motorway at such low revs due to the six speed box and when you put your foot down what a noise.

I love it, am I mad? be gentle !!

I really admire Alfa Romeos and their drivers (not saying this to suck up to you ). They sometimes get bad press, but they are probably the marque who produces consistently beautiful cars. They have managed to make a really great looking car out of a shape which is unappealing just by its nature (156 estate). Good stuff, Alfa.

hey Lucien! how is the model car collecting going? got any good new ones?!
Alfa's certainly are great cars . i still consider the Alfasud to be one of the greatest hot hatches ever produced. they have had their rough spell of bad press/reliability but if todays range are anything to go by they are most certainly back on track!
i got sent 4 promo pics of the Brera the other day and my god that is one good looking car!
i would definitely buy one if i had the money because as Clarkson once said "you can't consider yourself to be a proper petrolhead until you have owned an Alfa" (that is roughly what i remember he wrote somewhere!)
off topic, i can't quite believe it has happened so quickly, but this is my 800th post!

good luck!

Models aren't going too great at the mo . I have absolutely NO money at all. I spent it all in London yesterday when I stumbled across Denmark Street - all but three shops on that road sells guitars or basses, and one sells sheet music, another pianos and the last sells drums. Wow. Show me a bright blue Strat and I'm off.

Sooo, I'm gonna have to wait until after my exams before I can start to do anything about models, I'm afraid. Thanks for asking, though, James. Have you had any additions to the fleet on the shelf?

The Alfasud was the car to have in my Polytechnic Motor Club days. I still remember being overtaken by the Club 'expert' as he zoomed past me in thick fog, navigator calling the bends from an OS map..! At that point I decided it was more important to get my car home in one piece... we lost 3 out of 12 that night.

cheers!

Sorry. I've already got one! I just love Strats. They remind me of Eric Clapton - the absolute legend. He is the musician I aspire to. Well, him and Porcupine Tree.

BTW, my guitar is a blue Ibanez GSA60. Very cool, but not very expensive

Nevertheless, James, YHM

i fell under the 156 spell for a while, but a combination of 2 snapped cambelts, a host of other snags, and a really crappy dealer in B.S.E., led us to parting company.
i still miss driving it though.

checkout www.ALFA156.NET for plenty of good advice, and info on all the regular snags, they have meet ups in Diss occasionaly.

Every self respecting petrolhead should own at least one Alfa during a lifetime.

I have still yet to buy one but agree they are intoxicating machinery. If you had said I'm ridding myself of the westi then I would think you mad.
