Prime-time ad to cut road deaths

A dozen people are killed or injured on the region's roads every day
An advertising campaign began on Monday to try to reduce the number of deaths and injuries on the East's roads.
The "See More - Slow Down" message will appear on prime-time television and on buses, as well as on pay-and-display parking tickets.

The campaign has been launched by the region's seven safety camera partnerships, the groups responsible for fixed and mobile speed cameras.

It lasts for three weeks and aims to make drivers think before speeding.

Bryan Edwards from the Norfolk Casualty Reduction Partnership said: "All we're asking drivers to do is to take the odd one or two miles per hour off their speed.

"That will reduce the 12 people killed or seriously injured on the region's roads every day."

The seven safety camera partnerships taking part in the campaign are Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire, Essex, Hertfordshire, Norfolk, Suffolk, Northamptonshire.
