PHEA: East Anglian Railway Museum Transport Extravaganza
Discussion
28-29th May.
The East Anglian Railway Museum in Wakes Colne, Essex, is a working museum that's not only an established mecca for railway boffs but also incorporates a car show each year. It's not a huge car show but the added attraction of train rides, buses and bikes make it a worthwhile and interesting day out. https://www.earm.co.uk/events/transport-extravagan...
The event manager writes 'We normally ask that exhibits are at least 25 years old. However we happily accept more modern vehicles of exceptional interest and rarity. We have had vehicles such as modern mustangs and supercars turn up before. This guideline is just to stop people thinking they can turn up in a modern ford focus for example that our paying public can just go and see in a supermarket car park. If any of your members have more modern vehicles but are unsure if they would be accepted please feel free to ask. Does not even have to be a car, we advertise as a transport show so can be bikes, cars, buses, lorries etc.'
The show is on for two days; I propose that we go on Sunday 29th as more people can probably make it. If you'd like to exhibit, please contact James Cornell jmdcornell@hotmail.com as he needs an individual entry form for everyone. Please put 'PHEA' on the top of your form so he can reserve a space for us together.
Hope to see you there!

Hi Gary, it will good to catch you after quite a while!
Plan is very simple: (1) turn up (2) enjoy the show, look at stuff, take a train ride etc
Unusually for shows the closing date is very late, 26 May, so still time for more entries. There are catering choices on site including good beer, or you can bring a picnic.
1) Grandad Gaz: Mustang
2) Simpo Two: DB9
3) Roy D: Scimitar

I've not heard any more since my e-mail confirmation (and yours) from James, so they obviously recognise cars and let them in. I've been twice before but can't remember the actual entry procedure.
Are there any more takers for the show? They're still taking entries.

That said, my Aston is still not back from having some gearbox work done, so it seems very likely I will miss the show

Just sent an email for an application form-hopefully I’ll be able to make it along. Will bring my Austin Metro for a blast from the past!
Hi Iain and thanks for joining us (I just heard that my car should be back tomorrow - I'm not putting any money on it but it might happen). But do you have a Lotus lurking in the garage?PS If you PM me your e-mail address I can send you a form; it might save some time.

We made it! The first PHEA car show of 2022 with all four cars attending despite the awful weather. Thanks very much for coming, and I hope you enjoyed the show
Quote of the day was the visitor looking at Gary's 5.0 Mustang Mach 1 and saying knowledgeably to his companion 'That's the electric one'...

Thanks for the warm welcome, and hope to meet again sometime-fingers crossed with me driving something manual and swifter! Matt & I were admiring the colour and condition of your Aston Martin over breakfast.
