PHEA Run: Pigs Pub Wells Run - CANCELLED!

IMPORTANT PLEASE READ:

Good evening everyone,

I'm sorry to announce that in light of the continued fuel supply issues, I thought it best to CANCEL the Run this Sunday.
Unfortunately I couldn't re-book the pub for a nearby date to just postpone.

It's not all doom and gloom, however. Shortly I will be posting Full Details for a Run on Sunday 17th October.
This will give a couple of weeks for fuel supplies to return to normal.

I'm sorry to disappoint you all but I wouldn't want you or your cars to suffer any issues by running out of fuel.

Look out for my detailed post very soon.

I drove straight into my local BP garage on the A140 this morning and filled up, no queues no drama.

Poor guy opposite on the pump had driven from Dereham, no fuel there for some reason.

I know what it is, feckwits!

I'll keep an eye on things and see if we need to make any changes to the day

You know it's a panic when people will even spend the extra and run the 99 octane out in 'nham.

I went to do my weekly fill and clean at Tesco in Newmarket early Friday morning (before it was fashionable to hang around in petrol stations..) and they had staff at the entrance of the PFS saying "we only have momentum' - there was a little old lady in a somewhat clichéd Honda jazz, holding up the queue having a converation with the staff about 'what makes that fuel different, how much more per litre is it" etc..

I was happy because that and v-power is all i ever use. Filled up, got home, opened up facebook and all the local groups were going crazy with end of the world stories about petrol shortages.

it did change how i drove into work this morning.

I commute 4 days a week to Ipswich which means i need to cover 400 miles in a week - tank was showing 331 miles on a full tank when i left mine.

I got to work (covering 50 miles) and it read 368 miles remaining. I don't think i've ever driven that carefully

PHEA Teams Virtual Drive......now that'd be a first

I had to pop into Norwich this morning and all fuel stations I passed were closed; no fuel at all! I was hoping to find some high octane stuff left, but no luck.
I collected a courtesy car which contained just below a quarter tank of diesel. All I could was drive it home!
On the way back in Dereham a lengthy queue had developed around Tesco's car park and out onto the road for a considerable distance after what I assume was a sighting of a tanker.
I drove by just a few minutes later and the queue had vanished, so I guess they ran out and/or people bailed.

Then passing a small village, the fuel station had no diesel but did have unleaded. Courtesy car dropped home, I could finally fill the Audi for a longer journey today and later this week.
It achieved its best ever economy over a journey today - 31.4MPG! I'm proud of the ol' girl!

Fingers are certainly crossed Sunday can go as planned!

I have to confess that I didn't attend the coffee meet at the weekend as I wasn't going to go queue for fuel with the other panickers as I don't "need" any. It'll be the same for this weekend as I refuse to get caught up in the madness.

I was exactly the same, didn't go to cars n coffee because of the fuel situation and unless things change significantly towards the end of the week I won't be on the run either,will see what happens, fingers crossed 🤞
