I'm looking at Brome for my next move and I have no clue about the village or area in general. I've lived in Kent for most of my life and currently reside in one of the prettier villages in the Weald.

However, you get so much more bang for your buck in East Anglia so that's my next planned move. I have no problem being remote and don't need night clubs in close proximity. Perhaps a village pub and some nice restaurants in the vicinity.I'm retired so have plenty of time for travel to shopd etc.

Your help is much appreciated.

Are you open to other locations that are not far from Snetterton?

I really don't care about Snetterton.

My days of that single seater were many years ago at a Jonathon Palmer driving day and not a regular thing.

What I really need is the low down on Brome as a place to live and not it's proximity to race tracks.

I assume youve visited - what you see is what you get. It's very "rural" - which is either positive or negative depending on what you like. You'll maybe have no gas supply, maybe no mains sewerage - you'll be on LPG/oil and a a big tank in your garden so your costs are >10% higher. The Council doesnt spend much per person out there so your basic services is all you get. If that's ok to you, then its fine. like anywhere else it isnt perfect, but its quiet, you have stuff within 5-10 mins drive, and the London main line stops at Diss. Nobody would be impressed by you moving there, but nobody would berate you either.

Thanks Andy.

Doesn't sound too terrible.

If anyone else can add to Andy's post then great.

We lived a mile or so past eye, in occold. Loved it, wonderful countryside nearby being it’s main benefit for us. Paper and pint of milk pop into eye and bigger shop in Morrisons in Diss. Handy rail station in Diss. For the car enthusiast you have Scole Engineering who can look after almost any car from a classic mini to Lamborghini.
Thumbs up from me.

Thanks cranked. Much appreciated.

And a new garage to keep the SL and RR in top condition.

How about the Lophams. Both South and North each have a pub and only a few miles from Diss where there is a Morrisons and an Aldi.

Is there a particular reason you've chosen Brome?

There are lots of great places around here that all have pluses and minuses to them.

I moved to Brockdish from Kent in 2017.

Halfway between Diss and Harleston means we can easily get to either on the A143.

Unfortunately there are no amenities in our village other than a very good pub.

I have a sister in law in Redgrave. Great village, community shop and pub. But pricey and the road through the village can be a shortcut

Where are you moving from?

Yup, Scole engineering can certainly do that, two brothers run and own the garage which they took over from their dad when he retired. I took my cars to them for ten years until I moved about six years ago.

As others have stated there are some lovely villages in the area. We live In a great village not far from the small market town of eye so not far from brome
Personally though I wouldn’t choose a village too close to A140 as traffic can be an issue but overall a great area

The whole area is great for cycling with many lightly used roads that are relatively flat linking the bigger towns with glorious views of the countryside
