Sounds like a good project thumbup

Sadly mine is the later 3.2 and I definitely still need it hehe
Not tempted to go the silly-power diesel route of maxy's W124? That thing is pure nutty; it's great! laughdriving

naw, im capping at a 3.0 rebuild with a aftermarket cam and an LSD. If i can get the car close to 190-200 horses ill be quite happy!

That sounds great. Which cam and LSD manufacturer are you going for?
If you are yet to buy a 3.0 12v, have you looked at the 3.0 24v engine or the 3.2? Out of the box, they are north of 200bhp smile

That said would the 3.0 12v be more plug'n'play than those? scratchchin

Hiya....all info suggests the 3.0 12V will fit straight in. Im torn between doing a rebuild myself of farming it out but dont know any good engine builders in norfolk - unless anyone here knows different?

Im erring towards the quaife diff and a cam made by a company dbilas dynamic. they do different profiles dependant on what you are after; the 'road' version will do me fine.

I’d have thought the hi revving nature of the 3.0 24 valve would be good in this car.

Around 220ish bhp as standard. Smooth and rewards being revved. Maybe a nice exhaust as well just to finish it off.

as far as i have discovered, its different dimensions to the 3.0 ive looked at? yes, definitely be more fun with a 24v in but am pretty sure it will not fit frown

I'm not certain whether or not it uses the same engine mounts, but the 24v engines definitely physically fit in the engine bay without any major structural hacking about smile

Re: specific engine builders, I cannot help beyond the odd Norfolk-based Merc specialist and car engineer.
It'll be an interesting build with the diff and cam thumbup
