If all goes well, I'm expecting to add another motorised conveyance to the man cave today. One of the two wheeled variety.

The purchase has been a little unconventional. The bloke off the internet didn't initially mention that the bike didn't have an MOT or a V5 or that it wasn't actually in the UK at the moment. But he did offer to meet me at his local airport. That rang a few alarm bells.

However, his emails have all been perfectly spelled and grammatically correct, so he doesn't appear to be a scam artist. Or have they evolved?

Well it's now tucked up in my garage. The vendor wouldn't let me keep the Swiss reg plate, but I do have a pile of documents including an HMRC import certificate and a new MoT. Still waiting for a response from DVLA though. Here it is:

Thanks Alex. Welcome to PHEA btw.
I didn't think I had much garage space, just a mountain of clutter that had built up over the years. Most of it was too good to throw out, but has now found new homes via eBay. Result!

Thanks Darren. I did buy it for the styling rather than performance. smile

The 2300cc Triumph Rocket has been calling me for a while, but as I've never had a motorcycle before (I passed my test on a Lambretta!), I thought the 865cc Speedmaster would make a better starter bike.
