Any leads please:

I will be needing to have the artillery wheels on my vintage car sand/grit blasted in preparation of painting. I would by far prefer the same business do both the jobs but will accept that if that is not possible than I will transport the wheels as required business to business.

Also I am not sure wether it's best to have the wheels painted or stove enamelled ?

comments and advise appreciated as usual, thanks.

There is an outfit called JT Finishing Solutions Ltd. in Bury St Edmunds which I know is not too far for you. They are located behind what used to be Barclay Motors Agricultural depot in Barton Road (this now a car dealership called First Class Cars). They blasted and powder coated a part off my British Motocross bike, they found the correct RAL No. to match the rest of the frame and made a good job at a reasonable price. I am not sure if they provide other finishes but Powder Coating could suit your purpose as it is quite strong, however I realise this finish would not be original if you are fussy about this aspect. Unfortunately their cash invoice does not contain a telephone number.
As an incidental, in the same part of this industrial site there is car paint shop who did an excellent dent repair job for me recently at a very competitive price (cash - no Vat), this could be a close alternative for the painting process if you preferred.
Hope this helps, good luck.

I think you need to be careful re sand/grit blasting, what are the wheels made of,sand/grit is quite severe as a finish,i had some mag alloy wheels sand blasted, left a very abrasive finish, needed lots of coats of lacquer for a smooth finish. There is place near Stowmarket, Suffolk Blasting, he can do all sorts of finish, soda etc. Sand/grit can be agricultural,ok for buildings, lorry chassis etc.

Thanks guys, both really useful posts.

The wheels are steel so grit blasting should be OK, but I will discuss it with whoever gets to do the work. And I will go for a powder coat finish now.

Try High Calibre coatings.

They mainly do firearms but they are know for car parts as well.

Also they use Cerakote which is an amazing ceramic based paint with lots of colour options!
