Round 6 of the time attack series

NMRC = Norfolk Mountain Rescue Club
Disclaimer - yes I know Norfolk doesn't have any mountains, in fact substantial hills are in very short supply but just in case we force ourselves to be at a constant state of readiness - we meet monthly in order to plan our approach to a rescue whenever it may arise........
We reserve the right to spend that meeting just talking about cars and drink a little beer and leave the planning to the next monthly meeting - it's worked fine for the last 21 years
if it's not broke don't fix it...........

I really enjoyed last year and I'll be going this year too. I don't have anything "retro" to take this year though, epic fail!
Have space on stand for retro and non retro - we are a broad church in the Norfolk Mountain Rescue ClubWe've co-opted Darren on the NMR stand for the day :-) so you'd be in good company......
Can you round up any of the other Sudbury/Colchester Massive?
I'm just gonna add my pics here..........
Hmmm
Can you spot the Join
I see with my little eye (IC)
I like fishing too
Don't think he got it....
This is why I painted the Merc rather than wrapped it
Big bang theory (well expensive and probably terminal)
French Fancy
Seems sensible
Plenty of E30's
Nice tidy Manta A
Engine bay was very tidy
Unfaded 924
The Saab Bonnet acted like a mirror (No I thought about a selfie and then thought better of it)
Busy engine bay
I think After-market Hard top on this E30
A Monza - had some nice little touches when you looked closely
Obviously I and a few of the NMR are Monza fans
Sorted 3 door
Must stop looking at MKII Escorts - I can't afford one
Tidy little Micra (was on track latter - I have some pics)
Rob0r 730
One of his group's E30
I love the club signage at RRG but I left this one behind - a picture was enough
TR6

TR6
Some more
That TR6 (three years had work in a single prefab garage - body off chassis full resto where the owner did everything himself and that included rebuilding the mechanical injection as well as painting it)
Z4
Nice Ar5e
Not such a nice ar5e
And a slight over exposed front
Heck of a roof aerial
Another rob0r mates E38
E30 Rims
Tidy Honda
rob0r Jag (also went on track - Twice) may or may not have had issues
Rena 5 (I liked the wheels in the darker grey)
MKII Golf with a much later obrut engine - nearly 400 bhp according to the dyno print
Ronal Turbo wheels - still a favorite
Period accessory
Astra GTE in more valve format
One for Nigel spottedlaurel

Dustbin exhausts
Quite a taper
Time attack 205
V-tech yo
Mazda RX
E30
Outrageous Aero (I asked one of the support team how many times he'd caught his ankles on them and his face told me a lot)
Of course all that front aero needs balance at the back
Tuxman (nice to meet you fella)
Business end
First of the public track sessions (not taken from the pit wall - it was a different pit wall)
Lada with full compliment of flaps
DTM replica (or tribute)
rob0r Dad or it might be him?
MKIII? Fester
And from the other side of the Pit wall
Nissan 300ZX
That Jag again
Fester
Datsun or Toyota - not a clue really sorry not very knowledgable in that marque area
That Merc
I wonder what this belongs too?

MKII Fester
Colour co-ordinated gearbox on zetec on carbs
Kinda disappointed it left on the back of a beavertail transit - But I guess when you've spent that much effort on getting it super clean you hardly want to drive it......
Wide Arched MKI Escort (ish)
Engine well set back and low
Nope - just a battery and some cooling hoses - boot was empty too
Clutch of Cossies
Challenging drive on UK roads
MKII Goof
Because Racer breadvan
Vento missing VW Scene assesories on the roof
Probably slipped off and onto this bluebird
Hit and run
Probably more that once (number plate wasn't very well mounted)
Number plate wasn't very well mounted
I thought Fisher Fury (Fireblade engine I could see that from stickers)
But I'm probably wrong
Reflecting on that subject
Minty 2002
DTM 190
Banded or reverse rimmed Vauxhall steels
Staggered fitment
Jack (Cledus Snow) (wheel envy)
Merc Cougar (always people round it)
Keeping with the big cat theme - Puma

When a mud flap bids for Freedom it's fine - when it flaps about for a while - not so fine
Usual comments from people around this Nova
More E30
Last public track session
Stately Progress from one the NMR guests (Darren)
OK so he got braver
Dab of oppo
Capri
I was guessing kent on carbs
Driver and passenger looked happy
Nailing the apex
That Micra again
Not the best place for a picnic
Maybe 20 cars max on track and it still got crowded
Micra going round the outside of the Merc - great move
Off to take pics of tuxman - damn my tardiness - nature of time attack - warm up lap hot lap or two and then back in the pits

It was a Raw Fulcrum (the kit car) and it's mine 😉I believe we met whilst I was investigating your friends Jag on a jack 👍 Hopefully it's behaving now it cooled down?
I thought it was a very good day out! Lots of different car culture all jumbled in which was great to see. Too many car shows revolve around one thing and can get very same old. This however kept you guessing if it was gonna be classic and standard or stripped and converted in a mad way with no prejudice against any make/model! Brilliant 👍
Hopefully it keeps getting bigger as its one of my favourites.

Excellent - is there a build thread anywhere on it?shaun fulcrum said:

Ahh now putting face to name - the Jag continued to be problematic - It dumped it's coolant on the way home and went the rest of the way on a recovery vehicleshaun fulcrum said:

I agree - I do struggle to reconcile what I saw and thought of the day with some of the comments of the RK FB page "Great day , fair selection of retro rarities and classics , though bit disappointed no retro cars involved in the time attack as such,
£17 to show your Classic a bit of a liberty "
Seriously fail to understand the logic in some of those comments
No retro cars in the time attack - MKIII Fiestas, several 205's and an E30 BMW jump out at me straight away - I'm sure there were more....
£17 to display your car - the entrance fee to the circuit covers the track activity you are able to watch - if £17 is too expensive buy earlier - either £11 or £13

It is getting better - it has some way to go to eclipse my favourite show of the year but improvements are in the right directionSorry no build thread but plenty of pics of the build here,
http://www.locostbuilders.co.uk/photos.php
Don't know if you need to be a member to see them!?
I'm not sure what everyone was expecting for a relatively new show and found the cost very reasonable myself.

Agreed I enjoyed it, but got a little bored mid afternoon and left early. The selection of cars was good and really nice to see (I remember Japfests of old where I had to walk for 20 minutes just to pass the endless blue Subarus), but I feel it was more luck on their part than good organisation. It does need a bit more of everything I think. The trade stands were virtually nothing just the sponsors of the event and small ones at that.
It was my first time watching Time Attack and I was expecting a bit more drama and excitement too. But without a sign up showing timing it's difficult to work out what is going on, especially when cars come out, do 2 hot laps and that's it for their 15 min session. I should have followed it using the app really. I did like the amateur feeling that I could just spend a few quid and get involved though. The clubman competition seemed a little too obvious though, virtually standard cars and a Nissan GT-R enters, so it didn't need watching to see who would win.
I did like looking at the RX-7 and Evo with the boot completely cleared out with fans in the back though.
I'd go again but it needs a bit more support to be interesting.
