Is anyone in this region changing a timing belt?
Discussion
Hi, I was wondering if there are any DIY enthusiasts or mechanics in this region who are planning to change a timing belt and wouldn't mind me coming along to see the process? I've bought a service and repair manual for my VW passat and the instructions are good, but I still feel a little out of my depth. If I could see someone in action it would help a lot. Thanks very much.

What Passat and what engine ?
It's a 2004 saloon model, 1.9 TDI 4 cylinder (130bhp)http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&a...
Somewhere around about page 5 I begin to babble on about the cambelt change.

I don't have any cars with belts..............I'm not smug - It's not cheap changing a chain either.........
Yup - I should the demise of the timing chain and the service life of the engine are pretty closely related
