Most of the coast road (A149) Cromer to Wells, then Wells through to Hunstanton is great.

Can echo B1145 an pretty much from end to end (Mundesley on the coast right through Aylsham, Reepham, Bawdeswell, Litcham and Gayton. You could them join up with the A149 to have a massive loop, but turning North or Southa at Gayton will provide decent roads.

B1105 between Wells and Fakenham is great, but bumpy in places.
B1355 between Fakenham and Burnham Market.
B1155 between Burnham Market and Docking.
B1454 between Heacham and the A148 at Sculthorpe.

Heading back south from the Fakenham area, the B1146 from Fakenham all the way to Dereham can be fun, too.

You'll see there's a general theme of B-roads in the area, but also it depends very much on the weather as to whether it is enjoyable or not - lot's of dawdling drivers can be a pain.

HTH.

Enjoy your drive.

Do you mean had fun until you got to Titchwell Manor? Hope you had a better meal than we had there last week. The Orange Tree at Thornham is way better, as are many places on the NN coast.

Bit late, but yeah, the A149 coast road from Cley to Hunstanton can be fairly fun, and the A148 from Aylsham to King's Lynn has some decent bits too. Keep meaning to have a bit more of an explore though.

Those roads are ok if you have a soft roader or a car with high aspect ratio tyres. Otherwise.....eek

I would certainly give the A149 the thumbs up, the usual bits I venture on are from Sheringham to Wells. Great early in the morning or evening as they are less likely cluttered with caravans etc.

A number of the roads linking the A149 and A148 around the Holt area are pretty good but can be narrow in places - Cley Rd from Holt to Cley isn’t bad nor Blakeney Rd from Letheringsett to Wiveton though they aren’t the longest.

The B1145 is one of my favourites, particularly on the King's Lynn side. It's one of the wider and quieter roads around that way and plenty of good overtaking opportunities so you will rarely get held up. The A149 is a good run too, a bit tighter in places and overtaking spots are less common, which means you have to avoid times when lots of people will be heading out to the coast.

There are quite a lot of other little gems around Sandringham and Docking. I used to do deliveries around that way so know them more from memory than by name. But's it's a good area to go and just explore when the roads are quiet.

Just got back from a 3000 mile trip around Europe and only found 1 Norfolk (ie terrible) standard of road south of Lourdes.

They even manage to mow the verges there and put flower boxes along the roads through the villages. Fantastic!!! Will be going back soon.

Now I'm thinking about selling the daily driver and buying an old banger with soft suspension just to cope with the crap roads here. grumpy
