Hello PHEA-ers
Long time lurker first time poster. I purchased a lovely 2006 Carrera 2S in manual of course! I had been looking for over 6 months before I came across this one. It had the options I really wanted, except PSE and came in GT Silver. I really didn't want a silver one, but this was the first GT silver I went and saw in person. I will say to anybody who is contemplating a P-car in GT Silver who thinks it is the same as ordinary silver (as I did) to go and see one in person. Due to the larger reflective flakes in the paint (I assume) the colour really changes depending on the lighting conditions. It seems a lot deeper than normal silver. Anyway, I have digressed... I took the car to JZM for a PPI and Bore Scope and everything came up OK. I need to change the rotors and pads (going to give it a go myself, not so much a cost cutting exercise, more a journey of self satisfaction) I pulled out the stock mufflers and took them to a local shop to perform a PSE or 'Gundo' hack and have already changed all the lights to Dectane LED's. I have also ordered 997.2 Turbo wheels too.
I convinced the wife that a 911 can be used to carry our daughter when need be. That was proven last week when we took it for a week long holiday in Wales. As well as carting myself, wife and 1 year old daughter around in comfort, it also swallowed the baby buggy, all the baby stuff that you could imagine, wife's suitcase, my suitcase, bags of food etc. I am so impressed with the 911's ability to be a long distance cruiser, quiet and comfy on the motorway then with the windows down in the twisty stuff it's exactly what you would expect a 911 to be.... a proper sports car.
I posted this in PHEA in the hope there may be others in my area (near Colchester) that may know of some great driving roads. I am new to Essex and have not quite had the time to get out and explore.

Hello and welcome. Nice porker, even if it is silver
Make sure you sign up to the mailing list at http://www.phea.co.uk/ We have quite a few runs during the year on some fabulous roads (none in Essex though) There is also an Essex forum at http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/forum.asp?h=0&a... (but that's a different country to us Suffolk types)
PS are you American?

Thanks jayemm89, yes please fill me in with your local knowledge - much appreciated!
markCSC, No not American! I was born in Bristol but spent many years as a child in Australia so am now left with a hybrid wierdo accent..... but not American. I have already signed up to the mailing list. Regarding the Essex vs Suffolk forum, due to where I live being almost on the border of the two counties, I thought it would be best to keep in touch at an EA level.
