Hello all, long time lurker first time poster here. Has anyone else on here suffered with cars being damaged / vandalised around Bury St Edmunds? confused

I ask because about 12 months ago one of my old housemates had his golf kicked in (drivers door, roof, rear 3/4 panel) and had the wing mirror ripped off.

Now I normally park my car (Fiesta ZS for those who want to know specifics) along quite an open, well lit street but yesterday I was knackered from flying back from Germany and as the normal street was rammed, I put it down a little side road. And I woke up this morning to find someone has had a dance on the roof. To say I am p***** off would be an understatement!!! furious

Has anyone else had problems in the area?
Cheers

I have avoided it but I have seen many keyings, louts ripping off wing mirrors and most annoyingly, some idiot recently piled into my mothers Citroen whilst parked at morton hall and buggered off without stopping. Thousands of damage done, police couldnt be bothered to look into it.

Bury is generally a good place, but nowhere is immune to prats.

Bury St Edmunds covers a very large area of built up and villages. As mentioned idiots are everywhere, having moved into the town last year I find it all very pleasant and friendly. Sorry to hear of your damaged car though.

To quote Mark Anthony in Shakespeare's Julius Caesar

"I come to bury St Edmunds, not to praise it"

However, I lived and worked around there for years and never had a problem. Shame it has gone downhill since I left. getmecoat

Thanks for the replies guys, I normally don't have any problems as I normally park quite happily on Westgate Street, but had to leave it down one of the little side roads and then I completely forgot about it (as you should do). As a result of this, I've become a little paranoid at the moment and keep having to look out of the window at it as I'm worried that someone might let rip into again with the damaged roof on it still... Ah well.

I would really stress having lived in a very nice bit of London for years, Bury is still a very good area - generally.

I know plenty of places in London where you can park your car and have a 50/50 chance of something being scratched, dented or scraped on your car overnight not through malice, just the fact that buses are about 2ft too wide for some of the streets they drive down.

Reminds me of what happened to Neil's (WIJ933) Lambo https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z0YTJ2RSoL4

There are always Wayne Kerrs wherever you live, Bury is better than most places but not immune from them frown

I'm in newmarket, but go to bury most weeks. Worst I've had is (presumably) drunk people spitting or vomitting on the car.

Anywhere where you get people drinking and walking next to cars has a chance of a knob doing something stupid. Sorry to hear about the damage though.

That seems steep for a Fiesta!

Are you that young/uninsurable?

I assume you've tried the usual tactics - add mum and dad to policy, etc

I think he may mean quotes for repairing the damage caused by the vandals?

You are quite right, that's the cost of the repair. I dread to think what my insurance is going to be when it comes to renewing it!

Insurance has been very good so far, so might not be so much come the summer!

And thanks for the offer, turns out the garage the insurance company sent me to was the best price by nearly £1000, so it's booked in there for the 3rd.
