As there's a few from Bury St Edmunds on here, thought you may be interested in a little motorcycle history from the place biggrin

How many knew that the sidecar was invented in Bury?

A company called Montgomery were based in Bury pre-WW1 (they moved during the first world war to Coventry) and are credited with patenting the sidecar, so it would have been patented in Bury.

We were having a meal in the Tollgate in Bury a couple of weeks ago and noticed an old advert on the wall for Montgomery Sidecars. Just a useless bit of information, but for a local petrolhead it's a pretty cool thing I reckon smile

I'm afraid not. Our Montgomery only had one decent run at the end of last year, and a few bits fell off (exhaust and second gear being most notable hehe) so hopefully next year it will be more involved smile
