This is what happens when wife who is used to 4 wheel drive volvo borrows your 3.0 V6 RWD Alfa on a damp greasy day.

Thankfully she is ok, just shaken up

So my lovely 76000mile 2 owner car is dead. If you hear of a replacement, please let me know, as to quote my wife "I owe you a car" (she was only covered 3rd party on this).

OUCH! That must be painful to see. But at least your missus is ok, which is the main part. There is a 75 on sprowston road which never moves (i think). Maybe worth checking out?

A day of very mixed feelings! At least, it was the replaceable part of the
equation that took the worst, so I can imagine how thankful you are for that...

Steve

Glad to hear she's OK.

Sell the whole car to a Stratos replica builder. Can post a link on the Stratos forum if you decide to let it go as is.

Maybe as a reminder that whilst we all love driving our wheels, it can go wrong, and that if we are lucky enough to get away unharmed, it serves as a reminder that we are made of flesh, skin and bone, and that we are not indestructible.

Does that mean, for the same reasoning, that you don't buy a newspaper?

I don't need the fascination to make others aware of my personal misfortune. A newspaper reports on general news not broadcasting to the world about my own problems.
