Hey guys.
I am a long time lurker who has finally decided to sign up. I am (almost, just over a week to go) 18 years old and I drive a Quantum H4, a kit car with Fiesta Mk3 running gear. Like every car enthusiast, however, I always long for something better, more powerful, louder and meaner looking, and my internet browser seems to have at least one tab dedicated to eBay Motors at all times. Being a Controls Engineer Apprentice somewhat limits my funds though. Having looked at the TVR S series, MGB's, MG Midgets, Spitfires, Lotus Excel etc I always come back to one car. The Mazda MX5. Even so, insurance costs will hold that off for a little while longer, but that is for another thread.
Anyway, I look forward to going to Pistonhead meets, (I have been to a few with my dad in his Cobra rep, but not in my own car) runs (if I can keep up) and just obtaining advice and discussing cars with you guys.
Here is a picture of the Quantum for those who are interested.
Hey, I am still a teenager, so no laughing at the wheels or the running lights.

Yeah, it is a lovely little car. Gets me from A to B, looks great for a first car, and because it's quite low and roofless most of the time, you don't have to go very fast to get a bit of a thrill.
Which is a good thing, because it is only a 1.1 L engine. It doesn't really do 'fast'. Still, maybe a good thing at my age haha.

I have received you message so will add you to the Mailing List.
I look forward to meeting you at a future Event
I have to admit, I'd never heard, much less seen, a Quantum before, so something new for me

Hi Jake.
Lovely car mate.. Always liked them..
There is a dark blue 1600 hanging around Stowmarket.. He usually surfaces when PH have a run from Tesco but never introduces himself !!
Keep hold of it. Much more individual than the 'default answer' !!
Thanks, yeah it is a lovely looking car I think..Lovely car mate.. Always liked them..

I just want something a bit sportier, but I have to fit the price of the car and the insurance in a £3500 budget. (Any ideas are more than welcome)
I do see what you mean though, I don't really want to replace such a unique car for something that will just fade into the background. Maybe a Lotus Excel or a GTM would be the next step. Not sure how long I will have to wait for insurance to be reasonable though.

stick a 2.0lt Zetec engine in it 135bhp should be enough in that car
It was the original plan, but would probably be a bigger job than it appears. Gearbox replacement too I guess.Besides, I want RWD.
I don't much do welcomes as a rule but - that Quantum looks great with black multi spokes that fill the arches nicely (the DRL's well I won't go there )
Nothing wrong with kit cars when they look that good.
Finally anything and everything is welcome on a run - I've done them before in the other halfs Polo 1.4 and kept up (ish) power isn't everything

Lol! I'm on Cere with a blue Suzuki Grand Vitara!
Not very PH but it's served it's purpose with 3 young kids!
Looking to get back into the Alfa fold after our holiday!

Welcome, i just sold a 1.6 MX5 to a 20yr old. He had no problem with insurance at reasonable cost. I am an MX5 expert so when you are ready give me a shout.
Eddy
That sounds good, thanks! Eddy
I don't suppose you know who he insured with?

Thanks! I think the wheels make the car really. That and the super awesome running lights that you obviously approve of. Nothing wrong with kit cars when they look that good.

And yeah, I'll definitely come to a few runs this year!
