Too many cars?
Discussion
With six cars in the fleet and a couple or three hire/loans cars in the drive, I was thinking it might be time to rationalise a bit.
So off to the classifieds to see how they work - and stumbled across this 5.0L Chimaera
Lots of bidders and bids, so its probably a good one. Seemed cheap, and my one and only bid in the last minute was the winner - Pick it up Saturday.

I was advised several years ago that the 5.OL Chimaera is 'too fast' as is. So I'm really-really planning to leave it standard - well H404 camshaft + sport exchaust standard.
However, the time may come when I think it need perking up a bit. I'm the meantime it will be a good yardstick to compare my SC400 against.

I suspect the 'too fast' aspect of the standard 500 is to do with the brutal low down torque that seems to catch so many people out. The H404 cam will probably have changed the torque curve/delivery quite a bit. My cam is a 'one off', and although I have the specs for it, it was described as 'somewhere between a stealth and an H404' My torque curve is, er, a curve, rather than what appears to be more of a flat line on standard 500 dyno print outs. Torque and power delivery is very progressive, hence very predictable, making it much easier to drive on less than grippy/damp surfaces
Baby, working on property, exams for work etc etc. Poor tiv did a grand total of 164 miles last year including running over to Scole for MOT and service. Managed 80 last night on a jolly and out tomorrow pm for another couple of hours. Wehey! Still get a look on here to see where your beastie is at Looking mighty impressive!
I'm going to guess it's not going well...
