Right, DPF or whatever poxy thing is in my Passat Diesel has kicked in and the Turbo shuts down it seems, I have very little power. Helpfully I had to drive 600 miles over the last two days, that was fun.

Car is fine for 20-30 mins from cold then just loses power.

So, any good mechanics in the Colchester area who can fix/replace this fairly cheaply? Ideally a mobile mechanic!! Is it just a case of getting a clean one from a breakers and fitting it or am I being too hopeful?!?!

you should be able to plug it in and force a re-generation to clean it out ! could also be egr valve sticking open !

Ok I regret to advise that I have no idea WTF that means!! I did have a fellow come with a computer to check it and it said all is good.....No faults for the engine. But that was when it was first switched on and this problem only arises once she has been on for a while and pretty much only when I go to 70mph.

And nice choice of cars!

Yes, the 5 is more fun (though the 3k sprint is smoother if you know what I mean). I also have had a 350i, in fact she was sold to pay for my first Chimaera..

No, no resolution yet, I was hoping there would be a mobile mechanic who knew what kinds of fault this might be and how to fix it cheaply as it is the workhorse machine.

I am near Colchester.
