I am sitting here typing this in some considerable pain...
On saturday night i went out for a few Christmas drinks with my motorcycle club. Because i had had three pints my Wife drove home, coming out of Old Catton going towards Spixworth we hit black ice, skidded, hit a small bushy (luckily quite springy) tree and rolled our Fiesta onto its roof.
My Wife is just a bit battered, our rear seat passenger has a couple of broken ribs and i can't seem to move my head much. The roof squashed in where i was sitting. I am trying to get a Doctors appiontment at the moment.
I do think if my Wife had known how to deal with the skid better we might have got away with it. She just seemed to freeze.
We did make page four of the Evening News last night with our car perfectly parked upside down in a cycle lane.
Also i got a phone call from my Daughter this morning to tell me she has just skidded on some ice, hit another vehicle and wrecked her car, luckily no one injured.
So what i would like to do is get them both on a course so that next time a situation happens they will be able to deal with it.
Can anybody recommend any courses near Norwich, please?

I did a course with Shaun Taylor Racing a while back, E36 M3 round a circle lap, tractor pouring sand and water down and receiving instruction. Was good for me at the time but I can't seem to see it on the website but I have only had a quick glance sorry.

Might be worth a look for you!

Sorry to hear about the accident but glad to hear no one was seriously hurt.

I would recommend contacting the guys at STR Group in Mountergate in Norwich. They offer driver training of all types including skid training.

Or the council do one under their TREAD campaign

Good luck. I would think your wife would also need confidence building back up too after the accident as well. Driver training should help give her this.

Hope all feel better.

Yeah I would recommend STR too!

Didn't do the skid pan but did the rally experience with them out near Watton.

Well organised and a good team!

The wonderful Mr Taylor instructed me at Lotus on their driver training at Hethel in 2000 and also in the good old days when Lotus did track days. He really is a VERY good instructor.
