Thought I'd just say hi after attending the run on Sunday.

Norfolk local. Daily runaround is a grey Impreza estate and the workhorse/entertainment is an old Cherokee XJ.

Hi
It was fun on the run, your Cherokee photo reminds me of a couple of Cherokee's I drove many miles years ago over a couple of years, one of the worst dashboard layouts ever seen in a car, but great fun, the two I drove we're a 4 ltr limited, and a very rare 4 ltr ltd stealth special addition.

I'm sure you hit the brake so hard the back wheels lifted wink

This one is a 'facelift' version. The dash is a lot more conventional and they havn't tried to cram every control on to one stalk (although you still put the lights on buy pulling on what looks like a choke). The dials have taken to going on strike recently wink

It's a 4L 'sport' which means no toys. Having had a couple of other Cherokees, this just means I havn't got a whole bunch of extras that don't work wink The main bit is the 4L stright 6... the fact that it's a dustbin on wheels doesn't matter when you plant your foot and listen to the ironwork thrashing about up front.

I was the first person to blow up a 4.0L Cherokee Engine in the UK! (The engine got shipped back to the US) well what was left of it, and I was only doing 35 mph and bits of engine removed bits of the escort behind me!

But yes a good car, telling my boss on returning from holiday his cherokee was engineless was fun!

That's quite an achievement! The things are bloody bomb proof. Shame you can't say the same for a lot of the rest of the car wink

Some kind of manufacturing defect?
