I've broken a car for parts and I'm left with a bare shell. It would need to be collected or put on a trailer.

I'm just wondering if there is anywhere in Cambs or local that I can get the shell weighed in for scrap, maybe get some money for it too?

Thanks

Steffan

Local scrappers may collect and pay cash. Depending on the car £50 - £100 or so. Ask for a price first.

If you can get it to any scrapyard they will but it. Again ask for a price first

Give Chris a ring at MMR (mobile metal recycling)
His number is 07990 853 801
Nice bloke...I use him to pick up unwanted scrap from my building sites.
He is based in Newmarket but travels all over..

In the last 20 years I've never found it to be a problem - metal is metal

What I have found is that they don't like you loading the inside of the car up with more stuff and they definately don't like it if half the interior is still there....

This is simply the bare shell, with a cracked windscreen. Nothing else will be with the car.

From what I'm finding, I'm unlikely to get any money for the bare shell, so may just get it scrapped or see if I can get it to a scrappy myself.

You'll get some cash if you weigh it in yourself (load onto trailer and tow it to scrap metal dealer)

You may also find a scrap metal dealer will collect for free (depends on the price of steel if they will or won't) I just normally ring up my local place and they collect - if scrap metal is low value I have to pay a few quid - higher and I get collected for free - really high and I'll take it myself and get the cash back

I use Easco up near Lenwade (a bit far from Cambs) but you get weighed in, unload, weighed out and they pay the deifference.... They are getting tight on it though saying you will require a license soon... Too much metal being stolen off the road side and taken in for scrap
