car brokendown urgent help please.

Last week noticed oil in expansion tank,oil cooler on its way out(No mayonnaise on dipstick)tonight driving home car has overheated and ground to a halt,lovely yucky oil/water crap all over half of engine bay...Anyone on here got a garage who can fix it? no point in getting it recovered home if i can get it taken to a garage(i assumed the breakdon company would do that)not gonna call em out now as just home and pissed off..(if anyone drives through salhouse tonight keep an eye on a poorly omega on the side of the road...thanks phil ps i need a courtesy car if poss..failing that can someone set fire to it please...

I am happy to fix it mate and am near/handy in Norwich. Sounds like head gasket doesn't it?

thanks eddy,head gasket i believe is fine,dipstick clear,think it overheated as oil cooler u/s and as a result the cooling system is all gunged up...

So what makes you sure it is the oil cooler? The same can happen from HGF and a leak from oilway to water jacket. if it has overheated it could have done the head gasket anyway.

fast eddy i owe you an apology...the recovery chap thought it was the oil cooler,paid 260 for parts and labour car started and then overheated...oil on dipstick...head gasket gone......just sold the car for 300,now the proud owner of a y plate octavia estate bought for 200 quid....dont suppose you own a steam cleaner,as the engine is filthy...thanks mate .....phil

No worries Phil. Shame you had to waste a load of money to find out. No steam cleaner here, i think there is a place up the top of the airport estate that does it. Just do some googling mate.
