Driving from Norwich to London, tube station to aim for?
Discussion
Hi,
I've got to be in the West End for 9.30 on a weekday. I could get the 6.30 train which means a taxi at 6 (to be safe) which means getting up at 5.30 which I don't really fancy. Or I could drive to somewhere like Epping and get a train or tube from there. I like driving, I don't like trains so recomendations for a NE London station with a car park thats likely to have spaces at around 8.30 please.
Thanks

Newbury Park Tube Station - Far enough out for parking but not so far that it takes hours to get into town. It also has a good sized car park and resonable prices.
Down A11/M11 to the very end, then south on the North Circ to the Junction with the A12. Trun left (away from London) and it is about 1 or 2 miles on the left. Plus it is on the central line right into town.

I think Redbridge is one of the closest when you come off the M11, its is actually right on the roundabout when you pull off the motorway.
I usually use Loughton which is near to Epping, Car park is a bit bigger than Epping I think, I normally arrive at 10.30 and parking is tough at that time.

Echoing the other thoughts - train all the way for me, as much as I love driving it doesn't take much of a jam to screw up your timing. Depends on where you are exactly, but I often drive over to Downham Market (as I'm in East Dereham and almost mid way between Norwich and there) and take that line in to Kings Cross (only just over and hour direct compared to 1hr 40 for Norwich) - I find it more reliable.
I'm not mad! I've driven and trained to and from London many times and used to live just east of the City and will happily drive all the way in on a Sunday. I'm not a good early morning person. The car would allow me to stay in bed for an extra hour and then be comfee and Radio 4. I do enjoy early morning longer distance drives which in my car, which, when you are used to a 15 minute commute in Mrs Shoestring's Yarris diesel, become an "adventure" more than a "chore".
