PH Roadshow hits Easton Farm Park
Discussion
The Pistonheads Roadshow, which has been quietly bubbling in development for some time, went ‘live’ for the first time today at Easton Farm Park in Suffolk. Altogether we had twelve cars for the show, which was a fantastic turnout for a debut group. As always with Pistonheads, there was a TVR bias with a trio of Griffith 500s, a brace of Chimaera 500s, Cerberas 4.5 and Speed Six, Tuscan and Tuscan S. But of course the great thing about PH is that it’s not marque-specific, and so we were pleased to welcome a Porsche 993, an MG CGT and a superb Aston Martin DB6.
We set off from our rendezvous point in convoy and despite heavy traffic somehow managed to arrive together. It was nice to announce our presence with a PH Smiley flag flying from the lead car: there’s no mistaking it when the PH crew arrive!
A few lucky cars were promptly selected for the parade ring, and not surprisingly they pounced on the Aston while I selected the beautiful orancio Tuscan.
The ingenuity of PHers knows no bounds. Not quite jumpers for goalposts, but certainly TV aerials and fishing rods for flagpoles! In all we managed to fly three Smileys and a TVR flag, fresh back from its outing to Le Mans.
The weather was not perfect and an early shower sent the owners of convertibles scurrying for their roofs. However, it soon passed and the rest of the day, if not overly warm, was much more tolerable.
I must thank all the people who turned out to support this event. Some were new to the show; others were from car clubs, but all agreed that it worked very well and we look forward to meeting again at more events in the future.
The next event in the region is our monthly gathering at The Flying Fortress, Rougham, near Bury St Edmunds, next Sunday lunchtime. There’s plenty of parking and the carvery accounts for most of the UK’s beef consumption – so if you haven’t got anything better to do, please come along and say hello. Oh, and the other great thing about PH is that there’s no membership, nothing to pay – just turn up!
Here’s some pix of the day – if you’re interested in coming along to any future events please mail me.
