Charity Passenger rides at Snetterton

I have now gained the ok to mention an event I am organising at Snetterton on Saturday 26th November.
The idea is to revive the concept that was seen at Snetterton for over 18 years. It was known as The British Heart Foundation Day and finished in 2002.
On wanting to raise funds for a charity close to my heart (rmhc.org.uk) I wanted to do a motoring themed day so hit on the idea of reviving the concept at Snetterton.
The day has been booked, we have a myriad of race cars booked for the day to offer passenger rides around the 200 circuit.
We will also have the 100 circuit where we are hoping to have classics offering similar rides to the Race cars.
I have been joined by a few local businesspeople to organise this event including a couple of the organisers of the original BHF events.
So, get the dates in your diaries and hope to see you down there....
In the meantime, if you have any connections who would be willing to volunteer their time, race cars, Supercars or classics then please get in touch.
Race Cars will run all day from 9am until 4pm (with a hour lunch stop) but will stop 4 times for a 20 minute recess when the Supercars will go out and offer three laps per passenger.
Car clubs are being offered the chance to have display area (on condition they raise their own charity donation).
Car dealership's are also looking to have trade stands there. For a fixed fee, they will be able to have this area plus the chance of taking two of their demo cars around the 100 with prospective customers making donations too.
Hoping to have a good local turn out and I am told the racers will go onto the track in all weathers giving what must be an awesome experience for any petrolhead....

As the old ticker club and the NHS surgeons have done wonders for my family-
I would be willing to offer my MGCGTS and services for the day. I will be home at that period and the C should have a nice new engine with injection and 250+hp for a 1969 car.
Has full safety equipment.

I also have a MGB roadster with a ZETEC in it not as exciting but its there if you need it.

Thanks for the positive responses so far and the offer of cars. If I can ask that you email me direct along with a picture of your car and whether you possess a current valid race licence.
[offical voice]I have to reiterate that this is not a race event and you will NOT be driving your car at full on race mode. However, it would be at aroud 8/10 ths to enable the public to get a good sense of what a race car can do.[/official voice].
The race cars are being handled by Shawn Taylor Racing so once I have an email from those up for volunteering then I will pass on the relevant stuff to STR and they will conntcat you nearer the date.
If anyone has any contacts who also might be interested then please let me know.

The BHF days were finished due to many reasons but circuit costs, insurance and also the enormous amount of time to organise for so few people are the main ones. However with a bigger steering group, more information and experience from Insurance companies with regard trackdays etc now is a great time to offer this event again and have another charity enjoy the success as well.
Again, many thansk to those who have already expressed an interest...

What sort of pace are the classics going to be going at?and Email sent.

Any Classic owners who wish to allow their vehicles to 'breathe' a bit clearer, and hold a race licence can use the 200 circuit. We will also group cars together to allow slower cars to go out with similar cars....

Is there a reason for a race licience on the 200 cct, I would not expect dealer cars but faster classics who are used to the cct would rather get out of third gear.

However, if the car is primarily a Race Car i.e. cage etc and not road registered then the driver will need the necessary race licence.
On the 100 circuit, due to the slower speeds then the owners will need to have full MOT, Tax and insurance cover in place.
Again, as I said, we are still in talks with the Insurers to see what we can do to change this but at the moment this is what we have to do to operate within the guidelines given.

Hi Kev,
do we need to bring those certificates with us to go on the 100 track?
Also how many trips around are we expected to put in, I mean if we do it are we expected to be there all day driving or just for a while?
Is there a petrol station close by, as mines not exactly frugal!

We will hopefully be able to get copies of all the relevant documentations together prior to the event.
I am aiming to have one folder with all competing cars along with the relevant documentation done before the event. This will help the Insurers and ultimately us, the organisers, on the day...
We will be having a scruitineer section for the race cars but might, in hindsight, be best for the 'non' race cars to have the MOT's/ Insurance onsite on the day for us to check..
All will be confirmed with drivers, owners prior to the event....

The car insurance won't cover drivers on any track. This would have to be done through the event insurer. What is the liability cover when it comes to carrying passengers in racing cars?
What time of year are you planning to run this? I've got my little Locost 1300 which while not quick isn't bad through the corners. Besides with no screen or doors 100 feels it.

If I (and i'm sure Greig) could persuade the powers that be to bring along a BMW/Harley stand, would there be a way of some bikes doing display rides? i don't know what the rules are on clothing on bikes as on T/Days its leathers. But i'm talking about lesurely cruise, waving, revving etc...
I'll also ask about bringing the race elise along as long as it's still in one piece. I don't have a race licence but the two drivers obviously do
