Early days but thinking of moving up this way and if I did would want to be no more than an hour for Snetterton to make sure I got lots of track days in as my last one was about 3 years ago and I need to buck my ideas up smile

So..if the only criteria is a nice area with at least a pub and a local shop, maybe some good restaurants nearby with low crime and a short drive to a town for some night life/shopping/gym where would you suggest?

Perhaps he means that everywhere in east anglia is an hour from snetterton? Fairly true to be honest!

My olds live in quidenham which is audible distance of the track. All the villages around that area are nice, they get residents passes to the track as well (sadly no cheap track days but all events are free).

Hi Gary,

An hour from Snetterton is a very large area across Norfolk, Suffolk and maybe even in to Essex and Cambridgeshire.

There are lots market towns, coastal towns and major cities/towns (Peterborough, Norwich, Ipswich, Cambridge) within the area. There are also many villages and hamlets about, with varying degrees of facilities.
It depends what you are after, I guess.

Do you have any specific areas in mind? Have to visited any places, and thought they were pleasant enough to live in?

I live in a small village near Dereham in mid-Norfolk. Within an hour I can be at the North Norfolk & Mid Suffolk coasts and the same time will see me get to Cambridge. Half an hour will see me get to Norwich, my nearest city.

And more importantly, I'm approximately half an hour from Snetterton driving

All the best for the search!

Darren

Cheers. All my experience so far has been on the N. Coast which is lovely but possibly pushing the distance from parents (although not completely ruled out). Planning an excursion to the mid-Norfolk area soon (possibly next week if things go to plan)

As has been mentioned, if you live anywhere in East Anglia you will be within one hour of Snotty town.
P.S. it was a crude attempt at humour.

On a serious note, watch for local pricing of houses which can vary enormously from village to village for no apparent reason.

Woodbridge in Suffolk is a lovely riverside market town with lots of pubs, restaurants, a cinema and a gym nearby at the Ufford Park Hotel.

Snetts is only 37 miles away with fab twisty roads to get there if the country route is taken via Otley, Debenham, Eye, the Lophams etc.

Good Luck in your house hunting.

...night life in this area is the tricky part...

Suggest you consider Nowrich area as it is the biggest place, but is a relaxed city, or in the south Bury St Edmunds is well set up and more convenient for access to the rest ofthe world (ie There is duel carriageway all the way there).

The only problem with Woodbridge is that your nearest "big" town is Ip$hit Ipswich

When I said "nightife" I was not talking clubs. Late opening bars, Cafes and restaurants is more my kind of thing.

I'm a few minutes from Snetterton, in Attleborough. Wouldn't recommend it as a place to live, half the population is from the cast of coccoon and the other half from one flew over the cuckoos nest. Although if you're into helicopters it's not so bad, there's usually a police one flying around most weekends.... Surrounding areas are nice though....

I live in Aylsham, and love it.

10 mins from the coast, 10 mins from the outskirts of Norwich and 40 mins from Snetterton.

Bus every half an hour into Norwich (for going boozing) and you don't need the car at the weekend as it has everything you need in the town. Schools are all good to.

Great farmers market every 2 weeks and a cracking butchers in town as well.

(but dont tell anyone how good it is, I prefer to keep it that way and not have an influx of people spoil it!)
