Crabbing (at Walberswick) advise please
Discussion
Not a normal PH topic I know, but can anyone give me some advise on crabbing, I'm taking my niece this weekend.
I have done it myself many times twenty something years ago so I know the basics.
What I really need to know is should we be fishing at high or low tide (or incoming or outgoing for that matter)?
I plan to use bacon as bait, is there anything better to use?
Many thanks

Doesn't really matter but definately more crab catching opportunities at lower tides
I'd say falling tide would be ideal chase the water down a loading dock or slipway - best place for crabs IMHO
Bacon rind was my favorite but to be honest ubless they've developed tastebuds or a fussy diet pretty much anything fatty will do - they really don't mind
Absolutely love crabbing, go three or four times a year (and have done for 10 years!)
We've found this stretch the best yield for crabs, but only at high tide. The bridges are pretty much the best at low tide, or going to the harbour.
Have fun, do it properly! (no nets!) and definately make it competitive between friends and family
