Hi guys - I'm hoping to tap into a little local knowledge here. In a few weeks I'm staying in Llandrindod Wells for the weekend - I'll be leaving London on the Friday at Midday so thought I'd zip along the M4 and then up through South Wales, taking in some great roads along the way. I'll be in my Ferrari so need good quality roads - non of this single track nonsense for me! I've been planning a route but would appriciate it if someone could cast their eye over it for suitability and/or if there are better roads for me to take.

I've started using TYRE to generate my TomTom files and can thoroughly recommend it.

Here's my proposed .itn route, if you don't have tyre you should be able to figure it out from the road names.

Cheers!

Presume your going north on the 4520. After Upper Chapel take the 4519, takes you past this spot...

Can't speak for the other roads but if you'r coming down the M4 then I'd take the old bridge, go through Chepstow & follow the 466 up the Wye Valley. When you get to Monmouth, go left along the A40 through the tunnel, (savout the sounds etc) then you should be able to hook up with the rest of your route along there somewhere. thumbup

Yes, going north. That looks like a nice stretch of road. However, I've got to stop for fuel at Llanfair-ym-Muallt so is it worth the detour?

I'll be taking the old bridge to Chepstow but fancied the look of the B4235 to Usk - I considered the A466 but wanted to stay off A roads as much as possible.

Thanks for the advice!

A quick selection of roads and although not the most direct route, does pick up some great roads throughout South Wales:

Old Bridge - Chepstow
Chepstow - Usk B4235
Usk - Abergavenny B4598
Abergavenny - Beaufort A465
Beaufort - Llangynidr B4560
Llangynidr - Brecon B4558
Brecon - Upper Chapel B4520 !!!!
Upper Chapel - Garth B4519
Garth - Treflys A483
Treflys - Llanyre B4358

There is a Shell garage in Crickhowell if you need a top-up on the way.

Awesome roads so enjoy yourself!!

Hello mate! I've actually sold the 360..... and bought another!

Read all about it here.

I'll email about the weekend to see if there's any scope to link up - it's not until April.

That looks like a great route - thanks. How's the B4558? It looks quite narrow on Streetview - am I going to struggle with the 360? It's nearly 7 feet wide and I really don't want to drive up onto the verge!

Might have use of a classic Mercedes 280S and have been thinking about a route from Cardiff area and this one sounds good.

Might not make it as far as Llandrindod but can anyone recommend a good pub with home cooked grub enroute ?

Cheers
