Options for parking in Cardiff?
Discussion
Hi - I'm visiting Cardiff for the day on Saturday for a few hours in the Whitchurch Road area.
Have done a google search and seen a number of central multi-stories listed but have been told by a couple of people that parking in the city can be difficult on a weekend.
Could a kindly local PHer give me a heads up on parking options? Had considered park and ride but have been told I'd face a hefty walk from where the bus would drop us off.
cheers

There are many side streets around the Whitchurch Road area which you can park in. Lots are residents only, but there are other spaces as well.
If you were to park in the city centre then you'd be looking at around £9 for parking for around 5 hours in one of the multi storeys and it wouldn't be too much of a walk for you. (assuming you are fit and well)
Dumfries Place is probably the closest one for you, then it is a quick hop and jump down Newport Road and up City Road until it turns into Whitchurch Road. Mind you, Whitchurch Road is quite long and if your visit is at the Gabalfa end of it, then it is a reasonable walk)
The park and ride in Pentwyn however, is £3 for the day, and drops you in Dumfries Place, so you still have the walk (but at a lower parking cost)
If the place you are visiting is at the Gabalfa end, then again there is parking if you drive down the side streets. Failing that there is a Weatherspoons pub right by the Gabalfa roundabout that has free parking, then it wouldn't be too much of a walk, but you would have to go under the subway to get under the A48M to Whitchurch Road.

Thanks bishbash and jmorgan. Had seen that as I checked to make sure there wasn't a 6 nations match on. Is the event likely to cause parking problems in the park and ride system rather than the options just off Whitchurch ?Cheers
