The clutch is slipping on my focus st170, and as times are hard I've been looking at ebay for a replacement and seen that I can get a reconditioned one for around £100.

But it's beyond my skills to change it myself, so does anyone know of a reasonable local garage (Cardiff/Pontyclun but anywhere local really) that are happy to fit customer supplied parts.

The car is going on for 115000 miles so I really don't want to spend a fortune (which I haven't got) on it.

Also would a slipping clutch be an mot failure, from what I've read I don't think it is?

Garage fits your clutch, clutch fails after a week, garage says it was a fauklty part, where do you stand.

If you want someone else to fit the part let them supply or fit a part that they will stand by and warranty.

Understood, but potentially a risk I'm willing to take.

Yeah, still looking for someone, well to be honest haven't looked properly yet. I'm picking up a flywheel today, and I got the clutch earlier this week, I wanted to have everything in hand before approaching anyone. Can you pm me his details if you don't want to leave them here.
cheers.

If you're still looking, I can recommend Ken at Maynard Motor Services on Coedcae Lane in Pontyclun:

http://www.maynardsmotorservices.com/

A couple of years ago he fitted a wheel bearing I supplied, along with fitting a gearbox into a mates Shogun - he doesn't seem too bothered about supplying the parts himself.
