I'm sick of the damned stuff. It's a pain in the ass when you have your daughter every weekend and have to collect from Bridgend. Plus my car is as much good in snow as Kerry Katona is in a drug supply chain.

I'm in Caerphilly. Mountain Rd closed I believe and it's hurling down fit for Ice Age 4 so I'm staying right here.

Hello chaps.

Was planning to drive (from Kent) to Carmarthen then onto Newcastle Emlyn this evening. M4>A48. Traffic cams look OK so far although I know there's heavier snow forecast onwards through lunch.

Feasible or mental?

M4 between Newport and Cardiff was fine for me - the grit did its job and 2 lanes were totally snow free (at 8am), but speeds were about 30-40mph due to over-cautious morons rolleyes

Also the A470 northbound was fine until Treforest where it went down to one lane.

I'm near Pontypridd and I can see the A470 from my office window. There are hardly any cars on it now and speeds are no more than 15mph...

captainzep, I'm planning to travel in that direction to my parents near St Davids tonight. I'll be keeping an eye on the BBC traffic reports: http://www.bbc.co.uk/travelnews/southwestwales/

Seems ok at the moment, so I intend to make the journey...

Nantgarw Hill was mental when I went down it a little while ago.

Just started to snow again and heavy tried to get to work this morning and the roads were almost unpassable around blackwood even the bypass's were covered, really bad job done by the council to clear the roads. got to king davids tyres and heared that watsvile is blocked where i work so turned back and went home, unfortutly 2 lorry got stuck and blocked the road so took 1.5 hrs to cover 1.5 miles wished i stayed in bed.

Mountain Rd blocked, Nantgarw Hill closed. Just cleared the drive of about 18cm of snow and it's just started coming down in buckets again. Don't know what the main arteries are like but even main roads are struggling.

Seriously, it's turning into a blizzard.

Parked up in work near Nantgarw this morning and within 20 mins the car was engulfed. Then got told to go home and had to clear it all over again. Main roads in Cardiff seem to alternate between being deserted and gridlocked, it's getting slushy now so very difficult to drive on.

Also as I type another big load coming down in the bay, think I might have to bail on my paintballing tomorrow frown not going to risk Pentyrch if this lot is going to freeze overnight.
