Superleague Formula will take to the city streets once again this weekend when Chris van der Drift demos the Liverpool FC car in Cardiff, Wales.

His run across the Cardiff Bay Barrage is set to be a highlight of the World Rally Championship street show, the 750bhp, V12-powered single seater blasting from the Penarth end to the Port and back at 17:30 local time on Saturday.

Van der Drift was a challenger for this season’s title until suffering a massive accident at Brands Hatch on August 1. While his Olympiacos club went on to finish fourth in the standings with the help of Ben Hanley and Neel Jani, the Kiwi was sidelined for half the season before making a miraculous return from injury at the final round in Spain.

It won’t be the first time that the championship’s cars have strutted their stuff in an urban environment across Europe this season either. Assen, Liverpool, Portimao and Pamplona have all had their foundations shaken in 2010 thanks to the power of Superleague Formula.
