Really surprised that they have finished the road works on the m4 between 29-24 but why is it still 50 mph limit. Coming back from castle combe going into the 50 mph limit the amount of near misses i saw was unbeliable everyone was braking at the last minute are they planing to remove it or keep it at 50 and be a nightmare come rider cup time

When the gantries and matrix signs are all ready, the intention is that it will be a variable speed limit.
I guess it will be reduced to 50mph at peak times.

It seems they are a bit behind time with this.

....and here we are in November and it's still there even though everything looks in place. Can't remember the last time I went around Newport without some kind of roadworks inspired delay.

Probably have a steering group learning how to screw up traffic flow in Cardiff City Centre. Morons, the lot of them.

"I thought they were staying in place? Like on the M1"

Where's that? I know they've got them on the M25 past Heathrow and they work pretty well but I don't think that they've switched them on past Newport yet, just a blanket 50 limit "for your safety"!!!!!!! What.....it's far more dangerous with everybody braking hard, bunching up and then putting feet down to make up the time when the limit ends. Idiots, as has been said.
