If I'm in a hurry, I don't mind using an Automatic (drive through) car wash.

I live in Penarth, and usually just go to the ARC car wash in South Cardiff at 342 Newport Road, by the ASDA, McDonalds, Starbucks, and Frankie & Benny's.....

Is there another one you guys could reccomend?

  • Also, what about a good valet service / car detailer in the area too?
Thanks in advance!

Would never use one. I knew someone who had their car damaged all down one side. Rather use a sponge and do it myself!

its amazing how every knows someone whose mate had damage etc - but its never the person themselves.

this is proven and established technology.
im sure if there was grit some small scratching might occur
but for occasional use id be happy to use them

Are you calling me a liar? It happened to a work colleague, and it wasn't just a scratch.

Used regularly these cause a variety of damage to vehicle paint, mainly light and heavy scratching manifesting itself as dull paint, swirl marks and staining of aluminium trim. This is because the brushes are not soft enough, are rarely clean and not changed when they become worn. The chemicals used are not the best either.

I can show you many pictures of the damage they cause. Sorry, but using them is a lottery at best (I feel quite strongly about this!)

However, each to their own. The damage caused bothers some people and not others, and how noticeable it is varies dramatically with your car's paint type and the frequency of use - it also depends on what vehicle used it last!
