Meeting @ J33 Services on Sunday 23 May 2010. Please be there for 10am

Hi All

Again just because some of you missed out, I Would like to extend to you an invite to a Drive, BBQ and some Gliding, on Sunday 23 May 2010.

We will have a nice drive out around South Wales, over the mountains etc , that will end up at the Usk Gliding club .
Come along to see some nice cars, have a burger and a lesson in a Glider, its very good smile

See below for details.

We are meeting @ J33 Services on Sunday 23 May 2010. Please be there for 10am
For a drive around South Wales. some nice views and roads . around 150 miles in total !

I have also booked the Usk Gliding Club for the afternoon , Please be there from 1-2 pm !!

We will also be able to use their undercover BBQ, so if its a bit wet, we won't be. They also have a bar if you want a shandy. when gliding has finished .

I have also arranged for them to give us lessons in the gliders. basically you get the chance to take control of the glider . don't worry you have an instructor with you.

Cost is £32 for two Winch launches with tuition ! or £16 for 1 if you don't like it after the first one , as it can be a bit mental !!
The winch Launch takes you to 1000ft in a very short time, about 10 - 15 seconds the view is amazing and it's very peaceful when you are in the sky.

So now knowing this you all have a few options.
1. come on the run, have a BBQ and fly
2. Just come for the BBQ and Fly .

We will be arriving at the Usk gliding club at around 1-2 pm
Please bring some burgers, sausages or rolls For the BBQ
There is a weight limit of 16 st .. so if your over this weight you wont be able to fly. this is obviously due to safety and Physics of flight !

But there is a BBQ for the Fattys wink I.E me

This is open to Everyone !!!
Its worth coming just for the Burger and to see some nice cars ! I wont be cooking, so you will be safe....

If your interested please let me know so i can keep an eye on numbers. Add it to your calendars ! and I will look forward to seeing you on the day.

You pay on the day for the gliding, just give the money to Matt when you sign up for the flight.

Good to see you and Liz coming along again Ray. Do you think we can get Liz to go up this time:-)

Hi there.
I will not be able to make this now as I have just been asked to work that weekend. Working at the Radio One Big Weekend so it maybe nearly as fine as gliding but I doubt it!

Just to remind you all - this is on Sunday. It was good fun last time and Meirion did an excellent job on the BBQ.

Get your names down if you are coming along so that I can sort the burgers out (or if you turn up ad hoc, please bring a contribution)

Also - be advised that it can get a bit chilly on the airfield, so you may want to bring some warm clothes smile

Hi have you got the route sorted, if your driving near abergavenny or merthyr, I would prefer to meet you there, save me travelling to cardiff.

Thanks Ray

Bit of an update for you all. As Matt is lucky enough to be in Singapore at the moment, he will not be around to take you all for a run on Sunday. The gliding club is still booked for those that wish to take part though.

So my suggestion is meet at Jcn 33 services for 12 midday and take a leisurely drive to the gliding club for BBQ & gliding. I understand completely if you wish to pull out now that there is no run, but it would be nice to see you at the gliding club for a meet up and a chat.

I am happy to take any comments on board and if anyone else would like to go ahead and lead a run out in the morning, then this is obviously fine smile

Liz and myself will be attending the gliding and BBQ, but will meet you at the gliding club (we dont live to far away from there). What time will you be arriving at the gliding club?, Also my daughter and her b/f would like to join in for the gliding and BBQ but cannot get there until 15.30pm, is this to late?

If there is a drive out , then I will attend too.

cheers Ray
