I had the car serviced today and hav to give praise where it's due.

Originally quoted £225 but price matched to £189 but then I realised that they were including a litre if top up oil and screen wash which I didn't need so knocked another £15 off. Had a Mk6 Golf TDi courtesy car.

Anyway, did the service and was expecting lots of "needs new pads etc" but nothing other than the cambelt is due in Sept. Job done.

All in all a decent job.

So let me check I have this right, they tried to overcharge you, then tried to add in things you didn't need and you think you had good service because they didn't go on to try to add any further unnecessary costs?

They didn't over charge- far from it. Those two items are included in the service cost but they told me exactly what was in the service when I arrived so had the chance to take them off. Better than just not telling me and leaving me to find out at the end I thought.
