Looking to get an ordinary set of steel wheels blasted / refurbed and powder coated - One company in Cardiff bay quoted circa £300 for the 4 (!!), whilst the other two companies couldn't even be bothered to reply - Anyone got any local(ish) recommendations please?

Out of interest, which company was that? I used a firm at the end of last year that were absolutely useless!

To be honest I can't remember the name as deleted the email after I stopped laughing - think they were a nationwide chain though. Would rather get them done by someone recommended - not after the cheapest necessarily, but would like to support a local business.

There's a local company you should avoid at all costs. Tried to email you but your profile does not accept email. You might expect to pay £300 for a top-notch job on big wheels but it depends.

Give Renowheel in Bridgend a try. they are not the cheapest but they are the best around.
I've seen plenty of their alloy refurbs and to be honest, they come back better than the factory finish.

Thanks - Another person recommended them yesterday, and they do indeed look very professional. Problem being I'm still getting quotes in the region of what I could buy a new set of alloys for, just for blasting a tiny old set of steel rims. Sounds ridiculous, but I have been quoted £20 a wheel by a classic car place, however they are based north of the M25 (I pass there maybe once a week), so they may end being taken up there instead! The £160 saved easily pays for the tyres - Pity, wanted to use someone local!

They are old (1956) morris minor wheels - at this rate i may just end up buying my own blast cabinet and do them myself!
