Im looking for somewhere nice in swansea to eat which does a really nice meal.

not looking for indians or chinese resturants so they are out.

was thinking of the new one in the marina, but ive heard and read nothing but complaints about the place so im going to avoid.

been to morgans before so dont really want to go there either if i can help it.

so im stuck for ideas, i was thinking of the towers in jersey marine, heard good reviews there.

can anyone reccomend anything better/nicer etc, im open to all ideas.

thanks in advance.

Depends what you're after really.

I've always had a good meal at Castellamara but it's Italian in Mumbles so maybe not what you're looking for.

Very very nice but small more intimate place is Pilot House Wharf in the Maritime Quarter - had a really good night out there a little while ago, food was superb and top service.

Morgans as you say is Morgans but still excellent (Martin Morgan is my neighbour wink )

My other two regular haunts are La Bras' at the bottom of Wind Street or Eleos Bras' on the Kingsway.

Patricks in Mumbles.
Can't pronounce or even remember how to spell it but stars with a P and is in Three Crosses, owned by the guy who used to own the Glamorgan Arms, run by Kieth for him, limited menu but great place.
Bit far from Swansea but the White Hart thatched inn on the way to Carmarthen, it's signposted off the dual carrigeway.
Can't think of any others atm.

Mediteranean on the front in Mumbles is very good. There's also Galini's in the Marina. There's also the Langland Bras if you can bear the wait!

patrick's in mumbles has been mentioned - overrated in my opinion.last 2 visits produced children's size meals he should have been ashamed to serve in terms of quality and quantity.i now refuse to go there.

the white hart in llanddarog near carmarthen has also been mentioned.good but basic pub food -they also brew their own beer.

the best i have been to,and i have been to all those alredy referred to,is valan's in llandybie.its run by a husband and wife team and is simply perfect.excellent food with lots of local produce and reasonable prices - have a look at their website.cannot recommend them highly enough.

Agree about Valans, very good food in there, and their 2-course/3-course fixed price menu is good value. Would not recommend the White Hart at Llanddarog, but suggest you cross over the road to the Butchers, always fresh food, and excellently cooked. Usually a very good pint of Double Dragon on tap too.

yep i agree the butchers is better than the white hart - only mentioned it as someone else had but hadn't made clear what the food was like.

good to know i'm not alone in my love of valan's.i feel another visit coming on.

Dave, it's next door(ish!) to the Post Office, opposite the pub car park.
