This is an "interesting" proposal as to how they're going to address the traffic problems on the M4.

''Enforcement cameras will be installed to ensure that drivers adhere to speed limits. ''
SHOCK!

I didnt think it was a particularly bad stretch before all this work was being carried out. Cant see how stopping people will speed up their journey times to be honest!

it worked on the M42 with variable speed limits

that strech is far better and more predictable with similar controls in place.

Variable speed limits makes sense. It was this bit I thought a bit odd...

"Traffic lights will be installed at the entry to the Brynglas tunnels to prevent queuing in the tunnel bores. When not in use, the green light will be lit - as shown in the images below."

After being stuck in this traffic for around 1.5 hours at 11pm last night, I have called the number given for the police community officer on that link to offer my opinion smile

Why the f**k are traffic lights on a slip road working at 11.30 at night. It was chaos getting off the motorway. 3 lanes into 1 lane all directed to a red traffic light doesn't really work. Some common sense with the highways people would be appreciated.

Guys, it's all a ploy. Have you ever noticed that the "improvements" to the roads seem to make traffic worse than ever? Ever think that no one could be so thick as to do the things they are doing? Well, I think it's all part of the plan so that when they what to introduce congestion charging in the future the masses will think it's a great idea. Well I'm not so gullible, they are they ones making the roads a nightmare and no one else. At the moment I'm lucky enough to have a nice car but I'm selling it. Whats the point when you live near our roads.
