One of my part timers' has a MK1 (1.6) GTI, bought off a customer of mine as a semi-project.
Running, drives, MOT'd 'till early next year.
MASSIVE history file.
Totally unmolested - original alloys, no speaker holes cut in interior etc etc etc!
Recent front suspension rebuild, brakes rebuilt, service etc.
BUT it's quite rusty! (Rear valence, front slam panel, wings, rear arches - see pics)
Anyone any idea of value please? I don't want to see him get ripped off, but it's totally outside my sphere.
Cheers all in anticipation, Al.

I'd be prepared to buy it off him, it's worth £500-600 to me looking at where the rust is though.

going on the other end of the scale to what the lads above have said iv seen these go for as much as 8 grand when in mint condition. just my opion but it would be worth him sorting the rust out it doesnt look that bad then he will easily double the value of it

Hi Cally, those are generally the more desirable cars such as swallowtails, campaigns and early round cluster 1600 4spds with the small rear lights.

I had one of these in my yoof, great memories and a great car , I suspect rose tinted glasses are playing a part though.

No problem Al, pass him on my offer if he wants a hassle free sale.

Arhes have probably gone, and the rear of the area about to go, which is a fair bit of work to fix

Shell looks pretty bad, but the interior looks good.

Put an advert up on clubgti.com and benefit from the "scene tax."
