I posted this in one of the breakfast club threads, but thought it would be worth re-posting as a standalone thread.

I did it for the first time last year and had a fantastic day out.

The VSCC are holding its forth annual Tour of the Welsh Valleys on Sunday 26th July 2009 from the Civic Centre at Pontllanfraith. We will be meeting from 09:00 with the first car setting off around 10:30. The route this year will be taking in the magnificent sights of the South Wales Valleys and will allow all the entrants to have plenty of exciting and interesting places to visit before returning to the Civic Centre. This year our run coincides with the Caerphilly Big Cheese and for those who have travelled from outside the area this is a definite good place to spend some time with re-enactments of the Civil War and other craft fairs along with a truly fantastic fairground for those who are more young at heart or up for a serious adrenalin rush.

The economic climate has forced us to change the format for this year and unfortunately we have been unable to secure suitable funding to offer any food services so we hope that you don't mind either bringing your own food or finding somewhere to stop on the route, there are many excellent places to stop and we hope this doesn't spoil your enjoyment of the day.

If you would like to attend the Tour please complete a registration form online at http://www.valleyclassics.co.uk/i_applyonline.html The registration process will allow us to produce the route guides in plenty of time for the event. An entry fee of five pounds per car will be payable on the day. The entry fee will cover the costs of producing route guides and any proceeds will be donated to this year's selected charity 'Greenhill Primary School'.

We do hope you will be able to join us on this event and that you understand that the format is changed because of circumstance beyond our control, we will also be selling raffle tickets on the day and hope you will be able to support our good cause in the same way as previously.

I look forward to welcoming you to our annual tour and it only remains for me to hope for some excellent weather on the day.
I did it for the first time last year, and can recommend it as an event if you can make it.

It's a mixture of high-speed mountain road blatting, trundling through town and visiting local heritage sites.

You get a rally-style book of 'pace notes' (Tulip diagrams?) and a plate for the car.

Just uploading the pics from last year now:

AFAIK, everyone is welcome, club member or not - I'm not a member, but have registered.

Looks like a great day - shame I'm already busy out in the car frown Maybe next year!

Clashes with Silverstone Classic banghead

Why do these things always seem to fall on the same day.

Goodwood FOS, Fairford Airshow and Renault World Series were all on the same weekend this year (along with breakfast club smile )

I've done this too. Still have the plate in the garage. Everyone lines up on the side of the roads and cheers as you drive past smile
