Windy bridge shenanigans
Discussion
I commute over the old bridge most days (sometimes I'll swap to the new one just for a change of scenery).
As we all know they simply love dropping the limit to 40/imposing a lane restriction when there is a slight whiff of a breeze in the air.
However - the 40 limit/lane restriction signs are on the central matrix in orange with the amber lights flashing. As far as I'm aware this is there for advisory and not compulsory. I therefore ignore them totally and carry on my merry way in Lane 2 / whatever speed I please.
I do however get the occasional blasting of horns and coffee beans from drivers adhering to the limit/inside lane warning.
I am right in assuming they are advisory, right?

Calm down old boy - they are advisory. If you want to sit at 40 fine, don't get wound up if I don't.hornetrider said:
Not in my svelte machine, no. I also have prodigious amounts of rubber in contact with the ground - 11 x 19s on the rear.

if the matrix lights flash up and down ( top then bottom )then it is an advisory limit or instruction
if the matrix lights flash side to side then it must be obeyed.
if you ignor advisory signs then you may be open to prosecution for undue care or wreckless driving if you were then involved in an incident .....
only know as I asked a rozzer the same question a few years back .

I genrally base my speed on the conditions at the time, if it is very windy I will go slower than if there is a slight breeze. I think the people that control the signs do get a bit carried away when a leaf blows off a tree...hornetrider said:

Poor old Danny's C2 might blow away in the wind though, which is probably why he was expressing concern
(I used to own an AX GT myself!)
